2022 Construction and Design Trends

Striving to exceed expectations on every project, Clear Construction begins another year of premium design-build services. With many still working from home, our clients are considering ways to elevate their space with the latest styles in the industry. Here are three trends we expect you’ll see more of in residential construction and interior design:

Colorful Kitchens

Pops of color and warm tones are returning to the scene. More time at home means people are looking to create an environment that expresses their personality and individual style - and white-on-white kitchens weren’t cutting it. Whether black accent pieces, green hues, or wood cabinets, colorful kitchens are the M.O. for 2022.

We worked with Christine Markatos Design to renovate this stunning kitchen. As a joyful nod to the California coastline lifestyle, the kitchen takes inspiration from its prime location: between the beach cities and the glamorous Hollywood hills.

Ahead of the Curve

After years of geometric lines, residential construction is quickly incorporating soft curves and arches in 2022. According to Architectural Digest, designers and homeowners are increasingly aware of how our environments affect our wellbeing. Curves evoke a sense of softness and safety, welcoming residents to connect with their surroundings and feel at home.

Both the Pacific Palisades and Montecito Farmhouse renovations elegantly incorporate soft lines and arches to enhance the interior design.

Bringing The Indoors Out

Throughout 2022, we expect a greater emphasis on indoor/outdoor spaces that optimize California's temperate climate, providing an extension of relaxation and comfort. With advances in outdoor materials, manufacturers are creating stylish and durable indoor/outdoor floorings, sidings, stones, sofas, tables, and rugs. Protective pergolas and awnings, outdoor showers, or even adobe wood-fire pizza ovens are a few ways to bring the indoors out.

Ideal for post-beach afternoons, we installed this outdoor shower for a Santa Monica home. Elevating the backyard, the shower adds a touch of luxury to daily life.
