In Conversation with Clear Construction’s President | Bailey Hochhalter

At Clear Construction, professionalism and expertise is a priority on every project. We understand that a productive job site requires careful planning, quality communication, and thoughtful coordination between the client, project team, and all trades. We sat down with Clear’s President, Bailey Hochhalter, to chat about Clear’s processes.

Here’s what he had to say…

What does a typical day look like onsite?

“Our team is typically onsite and working by 7:30 am – depending on the job and any unique scheduling restraints that may arise. Each day, the site is prepared by the Superintendent and Construction Project Manager; this includes overseeing our team, managing any subcontractors working on the project, and communicating the scope of work for the day.

As a General Contractor, Clear Construction must observe and review all aspects of the project to ensure the highest quality craftsmanship from start to finish. It’s also our responsibility to anticipate any changes and schedule the appropriate workforce to keep the job on schedule and within budget. There are plenty of moving parts, so constant communication with the client, subcontractors, inspectors, and team members is critical for a successful project.”

How would you describe the job site environment?

“It’s constantly changing depending on the phase and scope of the project. A large team may be operating heavy equipment or a small group working on detailed finishes. We balance pushing the project forward while maintaining exceptional craftsmanship.

Our company works as one large team. At times, team members will cover for one another if someone is out sick or on a well-deserved vacation; this allows us to leverage each person’s expertise. Taking ownership is one of Clear Construction’s core values, which translates into our daily tasks. If the job warrants it, we may include other managers to consult and gain another perspective on that specific point in the scope. A large, talented team gives us a significant advantage when facing challenges. If the job warrants it, we may change managers to have the most well-suited leader for that specific point in the scope.”

What is Clear's approach to job site safety?

“Keeping our crews safe is a top priority; Clear Construction consistently trains team members on workplace precautions. With a ‘see something, say something' culture, employees are vigilant about looking for unsafe work practices that need to be addressed. We take pride in maintaining high standards, including how we take care of our employees onsite. ”

How does the crew support one another?

“We are privileged to have an exceptional team of genuinely collaborative and talented individuals who constantly support one another. We practice clear communication and maintain a constant list of shared goals. Our core values include helpfulness and teamwork, which encourages our employees to be open to asking for help when needed.”
