Creating a Home in the Pacific Palisades

Nestled between the mountains and the ocean, the Pacific Palisades is one of the most sought-after communities in Los Angeles. The neighborhood lies north of Santa Monica and attracts buyers with its natural beauty, strong schools, and quiet streets. We had the pleasure of working with Christine Markatos Design on a beautiful residence in this famed corner of the county. A complete interior renovation with new exterior doors and windows, our team broke ground in January and worked throughout 2020 to bring this home to life.

Updating the Hardware

Led by site superintendent Pedro Vargas, the crew updated the hardware to correct existing weaknesses in the structure. Maintaining the home's original charm while bringing it up to standard was a challenging and rewarding step of the project.

“This project required the unraveling of previous work to then build and improve upon it. While complex, this is one of the most exciting parts of a renovation. You are challenged to take what is there, determine existing weaknesses, and correct these without sacrificing the original charm of the home. The design team was great, and the homeowner was enjoyable to work with, which allowed our crew to work effectively and precisely.”

Elegant Design Meets Exceptional Craftsmanship

Christine Markatos’ aesthetic is best described as an imaginative union of modern and classical influences, where elegant rooms feature a fresh mixture of pattern, color and texture. We carefully built each element of the renovation to embody her vision.

Our crew added a custom wine cellar, built a new master suite and closet, reframed the upstairs to include linen closets, renovated each bathroom, and completed the custom cabinetry throughout the home. We added new doors and windows - upgrading from single pane to argon double pane for improved insulation and energy efficiency. Big windows flood the home with natural light, highlighting the cohesive design details and first-class finish carpentry.

“This project would not have been successful without the dedicated work of Peter, the superintendent, and Jose, the site assistant. Both men went above and beyond. They aren’t afraid of stepping in, working hard, and getting the job done”
