This pied-à-terre is a joyful nod to the spectrum of the California lifestyle taking inspiration from its prime location between the casual beach colonies and glamorous Hollywood hills. The renovation was a complete over-haul and gut of the original guest house — removing walls and updating to large windows and French doors creating an open living space with a spacious guest bedroom upstairs. Christine Markatos Design opted for a playful, marine color palette and an eclectic mix of materials and patterns. The kitchenette and powder room feature handmade tile and wallpaper, and lofted ceilings, custom wainscoting and cabinetry are found throughout. Some of our favorite touches are the “fish scale” vanity made by our masterful carpenters, an outdoor shower, and the prominent display of the childrens’ artwork.
